In honor of the 125th anniversary of the American Neurological Association, two contiguous exhibits trace the nineteenth and twentieth century evolution of neurology and the role of the ANA. Several aspects of the exhibits are captured on this CD-ROM that is provided to the membership as a visual memento of the meeting and as a reference source for historical questions.

The first part of the exhibit and accompanying CD-ROM focuses on Neurology as a discipline, the people who fostered its development in the United States, and the American Neurological Association as a primary stimulus for early neurological advancement. The decor and furnishings for the exhibit were chosen to evoke different locations of early neurological activities, from the doctor’s private office to the hospital laboratory, to the university lecture hall. The second exhibit traces the twentieth century and neurological progress activities, and seminal contributors in a series of panels organized by decades.

The exhibit organizers thank the Executive Council of the ANA and Ms. Linda Wilkerson, executive director of the ANA, for the encouragement and support of this history exhibit. We also thank the libraries, individual ANA members, and other donors who have lent materials from their collections and have shared their expertise in history and neurology to provide the foundations of this exhibit.
